I’m not a nurse, but I am looking at the profession. I’ve seen so many posts here about how horrible it is, but I’ve also seen some people that say they enjoy their job. If I was going to be a nurse, I think I’d try to work in a nursing home.
I was wondering [...]
I am an RN in my 23rd year. When I was in nursing school I only liked OB, L&D, and Mother/Baby. I proceeded to follow my dream and worked many tears in L&D and I found out that doctors can be abusive. So when the unit I was working on closed, I never [...]read story & comments
I’ve held other jobs after the one I’m writing about now. I was a case management assistant, and it was the BEST job ever except people ruined it! If i had to work for a big organization and put up with the p.c. crap THAT still was the only job that would make me do [...]read story & comments
I finally landed my dream job, so I thought. Yet one of the 3 Ps – People, Place, and Position – inevitably seemed to be amiss. With people, there was either too little fraternization or too much ego. With place, there were intolerable working conditions such as being seated next to an impossibly loud [...]read story & comments
I’m a graphic designer. Part freelance, part contract, and part full time (I kind of do my own thing). I decided to write something about myself, because I stumbled across this site and noticed all that there was said about graphic design is negative things. So here we go:
A lot of the views on the other [...]
I just started working for a very small-flower shop about a week ago, which is extremely fast paced and incredibly stressful. My boss is a complete micromanager, who is very rude to everyone working there, she has no personality, and she is a complete OCD freak. She is very disrespectful and rude to everyone, except [...]read story & comments
Lately, I am just glad to have a job. My job is stressful and I am under appreciated if not appreciated at all, along with all my coworkers. There are times I feel as though I would like to quit, but nursing is all I know how to do and I do it well. I [...]read story & comments
I am dialysis nurse. What is dialysis? Well it is basically a process that involves hooking your body up to a machine through an artificially created access post so that your blood can flow into a tube and through the dialysis machine where the wastes in your bloodstream are cleaned. (What your kidneys usually do).
I HATE MY JOB and I FREAKING HATE HOTEL GUESTS.

At the outset, I would like to declare that I suffer from a sad mental illness called depression. Because of this problem, I have only a few moments on normal days when I am feeling happy. I have worked in many places in the last 20 years, but there are no good memories.
A few years back, [...]
I’ll begin this with some background to help you see things through my eyes. Don’t ever work for fast food., especially when the manager is a sad 19 year old high school drop out who looks 30 and is currently on a mid-life crisis and is therefore taking out her angst on 14 year old girls like me.

I used to be a pretty happy, laid back person. Now I am a miserable nervous wreck. I directly attribute it to nursing. I have been an RN for almost 2 years and I hate it more than I could ever say. It is the worst thing I have ever decided to do in my life.
Oh my god. I have been working in McDonalds for 5 months so far, and I’ve only been on the front counter 3 fucking times.
The first time was for 5 minutes on my first day. Jess didn’t even bother explaining to me how to use it and just said: “You’re on front counter.” After about [...]

Its amazing how my career has come around full-cirle. It doesn’t seem like long ago that I was the eager newbie, the one that wanted to make a difference. I envied some of the nurses that I knew that worked the night shift. They had already been where I wanted to be; [...]read story & comments
