You think your job is hard? Try being a senior staff nurse on a busy ward, with a lazy bitch for a Sister, who can think of nothing better to do than sit on her arse in the office, while I try to run the ward, often with major post operative patients, patients who shit themselves constantly. Add on top of that doctors rounds, hassle from management and abuse from patients (often physical) relatives, and all the meanwhile management don't know their arse from their albow. All this for less than £20k. And I trained for 3 years to do this crap. And we don't even get crappy gold stars.
Lets hear you moan now. |

And just got past 30 years last year. Yes , I can retire , no I have no intention to ,
Yes I do have a life , and other interests , No my wife does not work.
If I did retire in six months I would be bored and want to go out and get a job. Beside it took me 26 years to get the job I have now and it is the best job I have ever had .
I'm with the nurse
you don't know what stress - pressure is . In her job people can and do die .
In mine , well it doesn't even compare to that. But how about crashing a system and taking down 2-3 thousand telephone lines and have customers say a hospital , university or police department not to mention all branches of government as the affected party. Their phones are pretty important phones and are needed to call others.
We all deal with our own pressures in our own ways , now consider this the next time you get a customer that wants to ream you.
Is that customer in a life threatening circumstance ? Probably not. If you were a Doctor , Nurse , Police or Fireman / woman or in a branch of the military GUESS WHAT.
OK too long , my point ? KEEP IT and everything else in perspective.
I have gotten along , with this in mind all my life . . is it going to be important to me a hundred years from now ? how about fifty or even ten or five or . .

So if I retired now I would end up working ay Mickey Ds . . . not !!!

when I was in high school I worked at three or four different food industry jobs , was a fry cook , busboy at a BIG hotel banquet facility and the work sucks !
My advice to 90 % at Mickey Ds go and get another job ! We all dislike bosses , customers
coworkers and on and on at sometime in a career, but we do what we have to and get on with it .

Changing job locations and having the problem follow you , to me sounds rather . . . er interesting. |

I totally agree with you. Ive worked at McDonalds for 7 months now and tomorrow, is my first shift as a staff trainer - not bd for a 17year old in a prt time job to get herself through 6th form and then uni. I cant think of many other jbs where the promotion ladder is open to anyone regardless of whether or not they are part or full time, young or old etc etc. I love my job (bar the wankers....sorry customers but even they are ok if you smile at them on the whole)

I do think that my job is good. Im not on minimum wage because there isn;t one for 16 year olds (its only recommeneded). I strtd on mcds basic r8 of £3.75 p/h for 16-17 year olds. I had my inital pay review after 4months (as is standard) and am now on £4 p/h. As of tomorrow im on £4.20 p/h - how is that crap wages? You dont have to be paid that much at 18 so at 17 it is really good!

People who slag off McDs should try working theire, just for a shift or two and see what it is really like. I used ot slag it off just as much but since i started working their i ralsied that it is nothing like poeple imagine. OPEN YOU MINDS WE ARE NOT THICK!! |
