Get out of there! You should be able to get a job in less than a month if you make a resume and start handing it out now. Screw the person that's supposed to help you in 6 months. Go to a temp agency, or try applying at grocery stores, anything. Just get out!

Yeah Kristin, I did 1.5 years in a fast-food joint so I know bad managers can really make a shift hell. I got lucky and only really had one or two bad ones towards the end though, when the super cool shift managers and the store manager left. Too bad, coz the place was so relaxed for the first year it was like a 2nd home to me at first. BTW I was one of the lazy close crew who misplaces everything for the morning men hhehehehe. You should try close shift some time, if the manager isn't some nut who checks under the microwave for sesame seeds, it's actually pretty fun... Lotsa stuff to do but mostly the ok managers taught us to cut corners everywhere and just wanted the place lookin half decent so we can all go home I'm done working there now, but one of my co-worker buddies eventually became shift manager and wrote for me the most awesome reference letter I've got. Hahahah we used to steal chicken nuggets together and now he's my reference? Damn funny.

Actually I just did a telemarketing job. That sucked. First problem is my phone manner. I'm okay talking to people, but trying to sell stuff I'm pretty much like "Ummmm Hi, I'm calling from XYZ Co-rp. How are you today? (They say they've just gotten divorced and their dinner-for-one is on fire right now) Oh that's nice, ummmmm Did you know that XYZ can offer you the bes---But...but...but don't you want to save som-...He-Hello? Hello? Shit." Second they never give you enough hours so that you have to go for the commission. Plus we didn't get individual booths, so it was like an embarassing drama class with everyone listening to your bone-head stuff-ups every shift. Funny but the boss is there too. I quit after one week Yay I'm still eligible for heaven.

Anyways, you should try a recruiting agency if you want good money and okay work. They usually look after their employees and give you numbers to call if the management is seriously outrageous. I'm starting a new job in a factory soon, night shift again (Guess I'm just a night owl hey). And the pay is $29 AUD an hour (about double what Ozzie Micky D's pay), with two grades of overtime. Oh man, I'm Lovin It!

I know very well your circumstances. I too work at McDonald's and I tell you this though. If you have any chance of getting out of the corperation, you've got to do it yourself. Make a resume and send it out to a business that you feel best suited for you. I am 18 now (19 in November) and I've been stuck in this place for nearly a year and a half. And as for the comment about "try the real world," this world is as real as it gets.. If not more. The place itself is a small world being harassed by the real world. If anything, the real world couldn't compare to the hardships we really experience daily. We have the 'real world' come into our little world reminding us that we're at a low-paying job for your fat mouths to feed. We're feeding you, literally. Without us, you'd be spending some time in your 'real world' at home making the home-cooked meal that you 'deserve'. We're all adults here, lets act like them.

I totally agree with you and know what it is like 5years for me... wtf?

I was wondering if it is ok to use portions of your letter to Mcd's for a special project.

Pieces may be used whole or edited.

thanks
