I was naive enough to think if I worked hard and treated people fairly, that I would get promoted, which was my goal. I wanted to be a customer service manager so that I could make sure customers and employees were happy, and to streamline processes to make the business end more efficient.

As I worked there for a while, I noticed that the only ones that got promoted were the ones that did not do any work. Politics rears its ugly head! It is amazing how much time to manipulate and toot your own horn when you don't do your job! These same "nice people" that brought donuts to suck up to the GM would deliberately berate their good employees in front of others, and deny their employees time off, even for their kids surgery.
Eventually, for me, I learned how to play the political game. My knowing the game and self promotion did work eventually, so now I was part of a staff of people that were self centered, lazy, not employee oriented at all. Mainly power hungry, prestige and money oriented.
For the most part, they were morally bankrupt enough to elbow their way up, and enjoyed tormenting their subordinates. Tell me again, why was it that I wanted to be here?
I did my best to fight to keep things fair for the employees, but after more than 10 years of dealing with the back stabbing, dirty dealings and managers just being mean to their employees for the fun of it. I am outta there!

Now, one of their managers got in trouble for embezzelling $100 K. Isn't it funny how that they are surprised that when they promote someone that has low character, lies, treats his ppl like dogs, fools around on his wife, he turns around and steals from them. DUH!
I am actually good at the corporate game now, however, I am not sure I ever want to subject myself to being in it again.
