I folnd your letter quite by acident when I was looking fot somrthing else, But I felt compelled to stop and reply. I taught English for a loooong time and didn't think a thing anout it, Then I got out of it and did somethng else, even edited a newspaper for a few years and did some writing that sold. For some unknown reason I gave it up and taught high school English again. More money? Better hours? Or maybe I thought I'd be imparting my love of the language.
HAH!! Never, ever again. You'd have to beat me and then drag me kicking and screaming in front of an English classroom. Not one single child, parent, or administrator gave a big rat's rear end about the beauty of the language. I quit.
