Nursing Informatics..Can you Help?

Working as a computer/network engineer I got into researching about nursing informatics. I never met anyone working on this field, can someone tell me more of the description of this position, what one needs to know to become one other than having a masters degree, etc., and what department would one work in?
Any info would be appreciated.
