Hi, I am a high school senior and I was really thinking about being an elementary school teacher. After hearing all of the stories that the teachers had to say, I realize now that I don't think teaching was meant for me. I don't think that I heard anything good about being a teacher the pay is bad, the students are terrible, the staff at schools are terrible. Is there anything good about being a teacher? It hurts to know that something that I always wanted to do can be such a bad thing.

why don't you contact local schools and ask if you can come in and observe some different classrooms? You never know until you're actually in the situation.

I have to agree with soconfused. If everyone based there life around other people's opinions, we would get nowhere in life. We would never accomplish our goals, but instead be accomplishing someone else's goal. You can not knock something until you have tried it. I have gone to several classrooms of different schools and observed them. Yes some students are more behaved than others but the teachers seem to be on their game at handling the situations, and seem to take the good with the bad with ease. They talked about how eventful your days are always going to be so you never get bored. I guess what I am trying to say is everyone has their own opinion and you need to get your own opinion on the situation.

I know what you mean. Teaching isn't for everyone but it may be for you. If you want to do it, you can't think about what everyone else thinks.

THe good things about teaching:

You get to teach the grade level you like:

You get every holiday off.

You get summers off.

You get to turn people's lives around.

Remember when you read, "The job story section" your not always going to hear the best of a job. It can be people like me that want to blow off steam experienced in the workplace.

You could take one person from every type of job on earth to aboutmytalk and they could blow off steam about something that's wrong with it.
